What happens when I exceed my included PDF volume?

Your PDFs keep generating and your plan stays the same. On Starter and Business, successful PDFs beyond your monthly included volume are billed on your next invoice at your plan’s rate: $0.02 per additional PDF on Starter and $0.01 on Business. We email you when you reach 80% of your included volume. Production includes unlimited PDFs with no overage.

Will pdf noodle automatically upgrade my plan?

No. Going past your included PDFs never changes your plan. You stay on Starter or Business and pay the per-PDF rate for the extra volume. You decide if and when to switch plans from your billing settings.

Do I need to upgrade just to get more templates?

Accepted Answer

No. On Starter and Business, add Template Packs to raise your template limit without changing plans. Each pack adds 25 templates to what your plan already includes.

What is a Template Pack?

A Template Pack is an add-on for Starter and Business that adds 25 templates for $25/month, or $250/year on annual billing. Packs take effect immediately, and the first charge is prorated for the rest of your current billing period.

Can I add multiple Template Packs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Add as many packs as you need. For example, Starter with 2 packs includes 55 templates for $85/month, and Business with 4 packs includes 200 templates. You can remove packs anytime, as long as your templates fit within the new limit.

When should I move from Starter to Business?

Move when Business’s included volume or features fit your workload better: 20,000 included PDFs, a lower $0.01 rate for additional PDFs, 100 templates, 120 requests/min, 30-day retention, S3 direct upload, and priority email support. On PDF volume alone, with monthly billing and before Template Packs, Starter is less expensive below roughly 11,200 PDFs/month. At about 11,200 PDFs, the monthly cost is the same; above that, Business becomes less expensive. That 11,200 figure is an economic crossover, not a required upgrade threshold.

When should I move from Business to Production?

Move when unlimited PDF volume or the Production feature set becomes valuable to your workload: unlimited PDFs with no overage, 500 templates, 240 requests/min, 100 concurrent requests, 60-day retention, S3 direct upload, the white-label embedded editor, and Slack support. On PDF volume alone, with monthly billing and before Template Packs, Business is less expensive below roughly 100,000 PDFs/month. At about 100,000 PDFs, the monthly cost is the same; above that, Production becomes less expensive. That 100,000 figure is an economic crossover, not a required upgrade threshold. Production includes 500 templates and does not use Template Packs.

How does annual Template Pack pricing work?

Template Packs follow your plan’s billing cycle. On monthly plans each pack is $25/month; on annual plans each pack is $250/year, the same two-months-free discount as the base plan. Included PDFs reset every month on both monthly and annual plans.

What are renders and how are they counted?

A render is counted each time you generate a PDF or PNG through our API. Preview renders in the template editor don’t count toward your limit.

Most PDFs render in under 2 seconds. Complex documents with many pages or heavy images may take slightly longer, but we’re built for speed at any scale.

Is "Unlimited PDFs" really unlimited?

Production and Enterprise plans include unlimited PDF generation. There is no hard cap. The only requirement is that usage stays within our terms of service—no abusive or malicious usage. For legitimate business use, there is no limit.

Can I use HTML/CSS or just the visual builder?

Both. Use our visual drag-and-drop builder, write raw HTML/CSS, or mix them. You choose the level of control you need.

By default, we store generated PDFs on our secure AWS infrastructure. You can also configure your own S3 bucket if you prefer full control over storage.

Yes. You can connect your own AWS S3 bucket (or S3-compatible storage) and we’ll send the generated PDFs directly there. Your data, your infrastructure.

Yes. We’re GDPR and HIPAA compliant. All data is transmitted over SSL. We don’t store the payload data you send to generate PDFs—only the final output, and you can control where that’s stored.
